The Vivo NEX 3S 5G is official with the Chinese smartphone maker launching its latest flagship via its website. As had been expected, Vivo has kept the updates to the device relatively minor although its internals have been upgraded to support the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 powering it.
Vivo is back with a decent performance update for its flagship Nex 3 from 2019. The new 2020 Nex 3S 5G follows an approach that Apple users will be familiar with where the design from a previous year has largely been carried over in favor of predominantly internal upgrades. It makes sense from a design perspective as it compares well with flagship smartphones launched so far this year with relatively minimal bezels while it continues with the pop-up front facing camera arrangement that Vivo was one of the first to pioneer.
As expected, the key changes lie under its skin with Vivo focused on delivering improved overall performance through an underlying system architecture upgrade. This is of course centered around Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 865 SoC, which offers a 25 boost in processing performance and a 25 percent boost in graphics performance over the Snapdragon 855. RAM has also been upgraded to LPDDR5 from LPDDR4X — that mightn’t seem that significant, but it boosts memory bandwidth by 29 percent. Vivo has also upgraded the storage from UFS 3.0 to UFS 3.1 which offers reduced power consumption and improved performance.
Vivo NEX 3S 5G Review — The 2020 Refresh
Although Vivo continues with the same 64 MP main sensor with f/1.8 aperture, 13 MP f2.5 telephoto and 13 MP f/2.2 ultrawide shooters, all should deliver improved performance thanks the improved image processing capabilities of the Snapdragon 865. Although the Super AMOLED ‘waterfall’ display remains largely unchanged at 6.89-inches, it has been upgraded to support HDR10+, up from standard HDR10. Keeping things interesting, Vivo has added a new orange color which joins the familiar black and blue colors found on the original Nex 3.
The Vivo Nex 3S 5G will ship in China on March 14 starting at around US$720 which will nab you an 8 GB/256 GB model and around US$760 for the 12 GB/256 GB variant.

Компания Vivo представила обновление своего прошлогоднего флагмана. Смартфон NEX 3S 5G получил новую однокристальную систему, Snapdragon 865, с поддержкой 5G, оперативную память LPDDR5, накопитель UFS 3.1, Wi-Fi 6 и Android 10.
Визуально новинка не сильно отличается от прошлого поколения. У нее такой же дисплей, защищенный стеклом с закругленными краями, выезжающая из верхней грани фронтальная камера и круглый блок основной камеры.

Экран на 6,89 дюймов с разрешением 2256 х 1080 пикселей, поддержкой HDR10+ и 100% цветовым охватом DCI-P3. Физических кнопок на устройстве нет. Регулировка громкости осуществляется с помощью сенсорных граней. Зато есть разъем для наушников. Также имеется встроенный ЦАП AK4377AA.
Основная камера состоит из трех сенсоров: 64 Мп (f/1,8) + широкоугольная на 13 Мп + телефото на 13 Мп с двукратным оптическим зумом. Емкость встроенного аккумулятора — 4500 мАч. Поддерживается быстрая зарядка мощностью 44 Ватт.

В Китае устройство поступит в продажу 14 марта. В России Vivo NEX 3 был доступен официально, поэтому и презентацию новинки можно ждать.

Смартфон Vivo Nex S получил обновление до Android 9 Pie
Для флагманского смартфона Vivo Nex S вышло обновление прошивки до Android 9 Pie. Напомним, Vivo Nex S получил процессор Qualcomm Snapdragon 845, 8 ГБ оперативной и 256 ГБ встроенной памяти, а также выдвижную фронтальную камеру и подэкранный сканер отпечатков пальцев.
Обновление распространяется «по воздуху», его размер 3,24 ГБ. Прошивка содержит майские патчи безопасности Android, принесет изменения интерфейса, темную тему для всего меню, новые уведомления, адаптивную яркость, функции экономии заряда аккумулятора и новые системные звуки.
Кроме того, обновление содержит ряд оптимизаций и исправления для найденных ранее ошибок.
Отметим, что китайская версия этой прошивки вышла еще в марте этого года.
